Daley to hold gun conference, conduct search for Duncan successor
Mayor Richard Daley said today that Chicago will host a “gun conference” next month to look for ways to beef up gun laws and get guns off the streets. The mayor said he would bring in leaders from across the country and people who have lost loved ones to gun violence. He said the attendees plan to review recent Supreme Court decisions that limited how cities can regulate guns.
…should the Republic REALLY be looking to two cities (Chicago and DC) that have some of the most stringent gun laws yet have some of the highest rates of violent crime and drug related crime in the US (it also doesn’t help that Chicago’s mayor for life is the son of a mafia don)? Instead, shouldn’t the US be looking towards states that have cities with some of the highest levels of gun possession yet lowest levels of violent crime such as Texas, Arizona, and Montana?
